Double victory for Herlevi family at the Euro Cup in Herning

The second round of Pro Stock Euro Cup series took place in Herning, Denmark. The day was successful for the Valtra Team and Herlevi family. Pekka Herlevi, leader of the cup, took the first place and the son Matti became second in this very thrilling and eventful competition. The bad luck of Johanna Herlevi and Doris continued.

Fifteen European top Pro Stockers had signed up for the competition. Although some Dutch competitors were absent the class offered impressive and excited attempts, both for the audience and the spectators themselves.

The first pull

Matti Herlevi and Caesar were the first ones take off. The start was fine; 100 metres – Full Pull. Only after six trials another full pull was seen; set by Pekka Herlevi and Sigma Power.

The promising start of Valtra team crashed when Johanna’s Doris got out of bounce at only 70 metres. When the nose of the tractor hit the track, the right front wheel came off and continued the journey over the flowers aside the track. The bearing had had enough. Johanna’s pull was disqualified for crossing the white line.

From the first round only four tractors were qualified for the pull off.

The second pull

The rest of the competitors had another attempt to try to get the full pull. Both English Pro Stocks, Trial ‘n’ Error and Rough Justice, crossed the one hundred metre line and went to the finals.

Also Johanna got her red Valtra Doris back to the starting line. The front wheel had been fixed! The Finns were holding their breaths, and all eyes turned to her.

Doris was as it used to be. The front end was up, front wheels were not even needed: a Full Pull! All three Finns to the finals.

Pull Off

Pulling order in the Pull Off is determined in same order as in which the competitors have reached the full pull on the first rounds. Matti Herlevi got pretty close to 100 metre sign.

Then it was father Pekka’s turn to have a go. As a very experienced driver he did with his 1300 horse-power Valtra another full pull and took the lead.

Next four finalists attempted for the 100 metre line, but were not able to quite make it. Also Matti Herlevi’s 98,70 was not far.

At last came Johanna’s moment of truth. But it became her fifth unsuccessful race on this summer. Already at the start the sound of Doris was not clear and they had to give up before 30 metres mark. Something had gone wrong under the head of Doris.

- "I am terribly annoyed. Anyhow our team deserves the credit for quick work. They somehow managed to fix the front tyre and I got another change. The second pull was so promising, but then again…" says obviously disappointed Johanna.

- "But we won’t give up. Father and brother got a double victory today, which is very nice. I am sure that this chronic fault on my tractor will be found soon."

After two rounds out of three Pekka is in the lead and Matti on the second place at the pro stock cup. The last round will be driven in Windenhof, France 12th August.
