Pro Stock 3,5 ton Show on Sunday
Triple victory for the Herlevi family Herlevis and Valtra team was again successful in Frederikssund, Denmark. Triple victory in Pro Stock class came in age sequence; first Pekka, second Johanna and third Matti. Also other Finns succeeded. Johanna Herlevi’s Doris had been put in better trim than it had been earlier this summer. On Saturday two successful test runs were done with Doris. Sigma Power and Caesar had a rest day. These two machines already were in a good running condition. The track in Frederikssund was good, and on Sunday the weather was nice and sunny. 13 tractors had signed up for the Pro Stock class. In addition to the Herlevi family there was a fourth competitor from Finland: Pertti Hämäläinen with his white Volvo BM Bison. Seven Full Pulls on the first round Sledge settings were fairly light as 7 competitors got a Full Pull already at the first attempt. Herlevi trio was naturally among this group, as well as Pertti Hämäläinen. At the second attempt three more competitors passed one hundred metre line, so altogether there were 10 pullers in the finals competing for the Nordic Champion 2001 -title. Pekka Herlevi passed the one hundred metre line alone In the finals (Pull Off) the sledge is set to be heavier to make sure the winners are separated from the rest of the group. The long experience of Pekka Herlevi was again a great asset and resulted in a clear victory with Valtra power of nearly 1600 horses and 2400 Nm! "In addition to my experience, a good start took me far today. I had to get the front of the sledge up quickly from the ground, so that the sand from the track didn’t pile up in the front. This would have slowed down the speed" told Pekka Herlevi after the competition. Johanna and Matti Herlevi made also a clear distance to others, but still 15 metres behind their father. " Doris in still lacking some 200 – 300 horses. That has to be thought over in order to find the cause to this anemia" said the beauty of the pulling tracks. Pertti Hämäläinen was very close to get the fourth place, but the clutch of his tractor gave away.Pro stock pulling continues in Windenhof, France on the coming weekend. After that, the last round of Finnish Championships will be driven on Saturday 18th of August in Vaasa, Finland. Järvitalo’s Modified bronze Uuno Järvitalo from Tyrnävä succeeded pretty well and got bronze in 3500 kg modified class. In the lighter class his tractor did not go straight enough and that cost him a place on the podium. Unlike in Finland, Tommi Kotilainen got some serious resistance in the Mini Modified class. Stormy Lightning was running nice and reliably, and was placed fourth among 14 competitors.
